Virgin Australia has confirmed its partnership with US-based Delta Air Lines will end on 12 June 2022.
That’s the last day Velocity Frequent Flyer members can earn points and status credits, as well as enjoy other status benefits, on Delta flights.
It will also be the final day to book a future reward seat with Delta or make changes to an existing reward booking, such as a route change. (Date changes will continue to be permitted up to 1 year from ticket issue, subject to availability.)
Missing points for eligible Delta flights taken on or before 12 June 2022 will be able to be sought via the Velocity website until 12 December 2022.
In the coming weeks, Virgin will launch a new partnership with United Airlines, which was announced last year. The tie-up will triple Virgin’s reach into the Americas, with customers to access more destinations across the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean and South America.
Eligible Velocity and United MileagePlus members will receive the following benefits when travelling on Virgin Australia and United services worldwide:
- priority check-in
- priority boarding
- priority baggage delivery and additional baggage check allowance
- priority security clearance
- lounge access.
Stay tuned for more info about the new Virgin-United partnership next month. In the meantime, if you want to use your Velocity Points to book Delta flights, make sure to do so by 12 June (the actual flight can be in the future).
