Virgin Australia has teamed up with the rideshare app Ola to offer Velocity Points for every ride: a great way to boost your points balance if you use rideshare services.
Ola entered the Australian market only recently but its presence is growing quickly. It says it already has a bigger pool of drivers than Uber – no doubt because it takes a much smaller cut of fares – but geographically Uber is more widely available.
Uber has a tie-up with Qantas, but only for trips to and from an airport.
Ola promises “more affordable” rides for customers, and Velocity Frequent Flyer members can also:
- earn 2 Points per $1 spent on eligible rides to and from selected airports
- earn 1 Point per $1 spent on all other Ola rides
- receive 1,000 bonus Points on the first ride if you’re new to Ola (ends 30 August)
- get 50% off rides in the first two weeks from signing up.
To take advantage of these offers, you must link your Velocity and Ola accounts by entering your Velocity membership details into the Ola app.
You can check out all the T&Cs on Velocity’s website here.
