Qantas is one of the few airlines in the world to charge a fee for joining its frequent flyer program – or to be more precise: Australians and New Zealanders have to pay to join. The rest of the world gets in for free.
Crazy!
It’s a testament to how popular and dominant the loyalty program is here.
The cost is $99.50 for Australians and $60 for New Zealanders. But the good news is, there are several ways to get around this fee and join for free.
The easiest is by signing up via the link below on the Qantas Points website. It’s been working for years now and anyone can use it:
https://www.qantaspoints.com/join-now?code=FAMILYFREE
If you have a family member or friend who wants to join, make sure to tell them they can save some money. That cash is much better spent on travel.
And, of course, tell them to follow The High Life for all the best points tips and advice!

Still works for me!!!thanks!!I should have known this before my trip though.
Worked for me – August 2018
Thanks so much for this, made life very easy! Still working as of 11/08/18!
Awesome!
Cheers – thanks for the help. Still working 🙂
Any advice for someone who found this code AFTER paying the $90? Definitely feel a bit duped!
Oh no! You could try contacting Qantas to complain, but I have no idea if that will work.
Thank you Kris! I actually tried to sign up the other day for $89.50 but the website froze. This morning I came across your website. The link worked perfectly. Thanks again 🙂
Tried that code and every combination and it doesn’t work. I guess the family free is over!
Odd – it’s still showing up as valid on their website.
