Virgin Australia has launched a very generous promotion to encourage people to apply for a new Velocity Points earning credit card.
The airline is giving you the choice of 40,000 bonus Velocity Points, a six month Gold Status ‘trial’ or a $300 Travel Bank Credit, which you get on top of the bonus points offer that comes with the card itself.
You can currently get up to 120,000 bonus points on personal cards or up to 150,000 bonus points on business cards. Participating cards are issued by Virgin Australia, Westpac, Bank of Queensland and American Express.
Our top pick is the American Express Velocity Platinum Card, which comes with 120,000 bonus Velocity Points and a free domestic return flight each year.
To unlock this offer, choose your benefit by 31 May 2022 and then apply for a Velocity Points earning credit card with an annual card fee, be approved and meet the minimum spend criteria for the individual credit card offer.
If you choose the gold status trial, you’ll enjoy all the usual gold perks except for the Gold member baggage tag, a physical membership card, complimentary partner memberships, guaranteed economy reward seats and membership pause for parental leave. If you earn 80 status credits and fly at least two eligible sectors during your trial, you can maintain full Gold Status for 12 months.
