Japan’s largest airline, All Nippon Airways (ANA), will begin offering direct services between Perth and Tokyo (Narita) in September 2019, making it the first Japanese carrier to fly to Perth on a regular basis.

ANA’s only other Australian route is to Sydney, and some may be surprised that it chose the WA capital as its second Aussie destination. ANA says it expects both tourism and business traffic to support the new route.

“We are excited to add Perth to our list of world-class destinations” said Seiichi Takahashi, Senior Vice President of ANA. “The city is celebrated worldwide as a tourist destination and economic hub, and we look forward to making it easier to travel between Tokyo and Perth.”

ANA will fly to Perth daily from 1 September 2019 using an advanced Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner with 32 business class seats and 152 economy seats.

In business class, passengers will be treated to comfortable business seats with direct aisle access and a fully-flat recline. The layout is 1-2-1 or 1-1-1 depending on the row.

In economy, the layout will be 3-3-3 with a generous 34-inch pitch.

The flight from Tokyo to Perth (NH881) will be wheels-up at 11.10 am, landing in the WA capital at 8.15 pm the same day.

The return leg (NH882) will depart Perth at 9.45 pm, landing at Tokyo (Narita) at 8.25 am the next day.

If you’re keen to use points to fly with ANA, the good news is that it’s a member of the global Star Alliance, which means you can book award seats through one of its alliance partners like our favourite Singapore Airlines.

I earn Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer miles primarily through my Amex Explorer Credit Card. Until 7 January, you can pick up a huge 100,000 bonus points with this card (=75,000 KrisFlyer miles) which is almost enough to fly from Perth to Tokyo with ANA in business class one way (83,000 KrisFlyer miles) or in economy return (90,000 KrisFlyer miles).
