Good news for Western Australian and Tasmanian travellers: Virgin Australia will launch direct Perth-Hobart flights on 17 September, becoming the only airline to connect the two capital cities.
The flights will operate three times per week with a duration of around 4.5 hours.
Flights will depart Perth on Mondays and Wednesdays at 11.30 am, and Fridays at 7.15 am. The return journey takes off from Hobart at 6.40pm on Mondays and Wednesdays, and 2.20pm on Fridays.
Virgin Australia will operate a Boeing 737 on the route, with a 2-2 layout in business class and 3-3 in economy. Five rows will have Economy X extra legroom seating.

Customers will have access to Virgin Australia’s new lounge in Perth, but unfortunately the airline doesn’t have a lounge in Hobart.
The fares are now on sale.
