Qantas promises ‘massive’ release of international reward seats on Friday

If you’re sitting on a pile of Qantas Points and eager to travel, here’s the news you’ve been waiting for.

Qantas says it will release tens of thousands of new international reward seats from 11am AEDT this Friday.

This release is due to Qantas extending its commitment of 50 per cent more availability on international routes until 31 December 2023 – an additional six months.

The extra reward seats will be available across all cabins and international routes.

Qantas hasn’t indicated which dates will be eligible – we’ll have to wait and see.

Qantas Loyalty CEO Olivia Wirth said reward seats on international flights were one of the most popular ways to use Qantas Points.

“Our frequent flyers have been using their points to book reward seats in record numbers, and demand for seats on international flights is particularly strong,” said Ms Wirth.

“We’re releasing tens of thousands of new Classic Flight Reward seats to international destinations to make it easier for our members to use their points towards their next overseas trip.”

If you’re keen to book, make sure to be online at 11 am AEDT Friday.

The reward seats are bound to be snapped up fast, especially on the most popular routes in premium cabins.

  1. I would love to use my frequent flyer points to upgrade and fly toLondon to visit my son his wife and grandchildren. This year is my husband and mine 60th wedding anniversary and my 80th birthday.

  2. The headline of your article (“on Friday”) directly contradicts the first sentence of the article (“from Friday”). It’s a critical distinction. You’ve drunk the Qantas Kool-Aid.
